1000+ Club to Benefit Cancer held their Holiday Membership Luncheon and Grant Presentations on Friday, December 15th.
Thank you to Lorraine Thomas for graciously hosting and underwriting this annual luncheon. Chaired by Anne Ahrens, the event highlighted this years’ fundraising efforts and growing membership of the club. Thanked were the committee members, Reba Amdur, Marian McCray-DeLoach, Lorraine Thomas and Kathleen Thomsen.
New members were introduced by Anne Ahrens, Vice President of Membership, and were presented a rose. The Club presently has a membership of over 200.
Kathleen Thomsen, President, welcomed the seventy plus attendees, recognized the current Board Members and gave the President’s report. Merrill Thomas, Vice President of Charitable Giving, was then introduced to announce the six 2017 grant recipients.

The grant committee members consisted of Merrill Thomas, Chair, Beverly Dinunzio, Billie Sue Engel, Marsha Levy, Gina Stelnik and Kathleen Thomsen.
In closing, attendees were asked to mark their calendars for the Club’s next event “Blue Jeans and Bling” on April 7, 2018 at the VFW Post 1966, 350 SW 25th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL. This fun event will feature the live music of Big City Dogs, barbeque, raffles and much, much more.
